Upgraded iPads, iPad Pros, & Apple TV 4K

Wednesday, October 19, 2022

The leaves have changed and Apple been inspired by the colors. Yesterday, Apple announced a totally new redesign for their 10-generation iPad with some massive upgrades and new colorful cases. Not to be outdone, the iPad Pros have also been upgraded to sport some of the latest technology and faster Wi-Fi connectivity.

And as the weather turns to cold and you may feel inclined to stay indoors more, the all new Apple TV 4K might be just what the doctor ordered as a cable replacement or upgrade in screen viewing experience. Let's explore these new devices

10-Generation iPad

The new iPad 10-generation (the base or normal iPad) has gotten a major overhaul. Some features include:

— Larger 10.9” screen (Same as the Air)

— Much faster processor

— Upgraded cameras

— Horizontal Facetime camera

— USB-C connectivity

— Upgraded case design, no more Home button

— Touch ID in power button

The 10th-generation iPad is the most common model and the lease expensive. But it does not lack for power or features. The Apple Pencil works with it, the screen is as large as more expensive models, the processor was upgraded, and the cameras are significantly better.

Apple has eschewed the Lightning port and is now using a USB-C port, the same as on all Mac computers. So, you can actually charge your iPad from your Macbook Pro charger and any other widely universal USB-C charger. We welcome the change!

The new iPad is more expensive. It now starts at $449. But, with the new features included and it being now faster than a current Macbook Air, you’re still getting a value. Cellular connectivity is available for an additional $150.

Colors: The iPad comes in Silver, Yellow, Pink, and Blue.

For the vast majority of you, the iPad will do the trick and is still more than you'll ever use, so please consider it versus the Pro models.

10th-generation iPads are on sale today.

But for those who are power users and/or wish to have a larger screen…Apple has an upgrade for you as well… the iPad Pro.

iPad Pro

The 11” and 12.9” iPads were upgraded to the new M2 Apple processor, which promises to produce a significant speed boost. But what else do you need to know?

— The cameras now can shoot high definition 4K ProRes video.

— Wi-Fi has been upgraded to the fastest available protocol (6E) to allow for better connectivity in your home and faster connectivity overall.

— The 12.9” model sports a high-res liquid retina XDR display with motion so smooth it’s seemingly life-like.

— Increased cellular 5G support and faster connectivity, including internationally.

— Apple Pencil Hover experience: If you have a 2nd generation Apple Pencil, it can be detected when it is just 12mm above the display, allowing you to control the screen without touching it. You can reduce pressure on your hands and wrists and give yourself more options for how to control the touch screen.

— Silver and Space Gray colors.

— Same form factor as previous model.

Prices start at $799 and they are on sale today.:

  • — iPad Pro 11-inch Wi-Fi (2022): from $799
  • — iPad Pro 11-inch Cellular (2022): from $999
  • — iPad Pro 12.9-inch Wi-Fi (2022): from $1,099
  • — iPad Pro 12.9-inch Cellular (2022): from $1,299

Pre-orders are being taken now and they’ll be available on Oct. 26.

Apple TV 4K

The latest Apple TV version has gotten faster, smaller in size, quieter (there is no fan!), larger in storage, and even cheaper!

There are two models from which to choose:

$129 - Wi-Fi Only with 64GB Storage

$149 - W-Fi + Ethernet with 128GB Storage

For those who don’t connect their Apple TV to a hard-wired Ethernet cable (most of us), the $129 model will suffice. However, with the price difference being only $20, we recommend the $149 version because of the increased storage which can come in handy for the future and you always have the Ethernet option.

Less Energy: Using the latest Apple processor, Apple has managed to reduce the carbon footprint of the Apple TV by 25%. The lack of need for fan is chief among the reasons.

Remote: Both models come with Apple’s latest Siri remote which was introduced last year and is a great improvement over the older black touchpad style remotes.

USB-C: Apple's trend towards USB-C universality continues as the remote now charges via the more available type of connector. No more Lightning connector!

Both models are cheaper, faster, better. You get all three!

Pre-orders are being taken now and they’ll be available on Nov. 4.
