Use Your iPhone As a Scanner That Saves Straight to Your Mac!

Monday, June 7, 2021

If you’ve ever needed to quickly scan a photo or document, your Mac has a handy way to quickly import an iPhone photo or scan to your Mac’s desktop.

To do this, you’ll need a relatively recent Mac (2016 or newer) running macOS Catalina or later and an iPhone running iOS 13 or later.

1. Click once into any empty space on your Mac's desktop.

2. Press and hold Control on the keyboard and click again into empty desktop space.

3. Select Import from iPhone from the pop-up menu.

4. Choose Scan Documents or Take Photo based on what you’re scanning.

5. You’ll be directed to pickup your phone and unlock it.

6. The Camera app will open. Now take a photo of your document or picture and it will appear on the desktop of your Mac.

Documents will become PDFs, and photos will be JPEGs. There is no need to choose a file type or location. Your file will be located on desktop where you can file it or attach them to an email!
