AirTags, Explained

Monday, April 26, 2021

Last week Apple announced a brand new product for 2021. The product is called AirTag.

AirTag is a supereasy way to keep track of your stuff. Attach one to your keys, slip another in your backpack. And just like that, they’re on your radar in the Find My app, where you can also track down your Apple devices and keep up with friends and family.

AirTags are small discs that are roughly the size of a half dollar and connect to Apple's “Find My” network. AirTags work by pinging other Apple iDevices to triangulate location, just like a lost iPhone. Anyone who has ever misplaced their phone knows how useful this feature can be.

But how do you attach them? Never fear, an entire new industry is emerging just for this new product. Check on Amazon, Walmart, and eBay for myriad attachment solutions from keychains, to luggage tags, to adhesive attachments for your car or bike, to....well, the possibilities are endless and only more will be coming.

The price is right on AirTags as well. A single AirTag is $29, and a 4-pack is $99. They even come with free engraving and emojis!
